This is an adventure that I’ll remember for the rest of my life, though I don’t think I’ll repeat the act of doing a winter traverse again.
I think I would love this section of trail, but I want to try it in the daytime and without snow.
Mahoosuc Range Backpacking Trip 10.24-10.26. It's not clear if there is a "standard" way to do the traverse, and the www.summitpost.org page on it says "Ask ten people what constitutes a Great Range traverse, and you'll likely get ten different answers." The Mahoosuc Range from Maine to New Hampshire, through which the Appalachian Trail traverses, is mile for mile among the most difficult sections of the entire AT. Depending upon the direction you travel it can entail up to roughly 34 miles and 12,000’+ elevation gain over some of the most difficult, strenuous terrain in the Whites.

Personally, I still felt good, but it was pointed out earlier in the day that I was about anywhere from 6-16 years younger than everyone else, averaging about 10, so that could have explained it.
