Mt Roberts/Mt Superbus/Lincoln Wreck. This week, I took a small team from my hiking group to climb Mt Superbus and find that Lincoln Wreck. In an effort to get ready for the end of the year, we decided to hike up South East Queensland’s tallest mountain, with a bonus stop at a mountain bearing the same name as my mate and a plane wreck from 1955!
Beautiful walk through the rainforest and the summit was great despite lack of view. This was one of my favourite parts of the hike, as I love a good scramble. We had already booked Mt Superbus saddle campsite and the plan was to drop our backpacks there and head off with a day pack on the return journey to the Lincoln wreck.
Although there were no views, it still was a pretty cool place. Recommended if the conditions are dry.Mostly a gradual elevation gain in my opinion except at the last half mile or so before the summit where it’s just straight up. Most of my hikes are just day time only, so I can get home to a real meal and a real bed. Not straight up the path to the sheds.Don't bother heading towards the cow sheds. It is now part of the Main Range National Park.
Clint and I started this tradition a very long time ago at Stinson’s Wreck in Lamington.We were a bit later than planned, so we hoofed it back to try and find the real path back down to the car park (.The drive back was via a different, more stable road.

Trail was fairly wet and a lot of hiker traffic (without masks) as we were headed down.
