The Taconic Mountains are a group of formerly large volcanic islands that were fused with the ancient North American Continent during the Ordovician Period of geologic time. Not that I am against it, I actually enjoyed the history and little inside stories of the area, but in this case it really took away from the story and made it difficult for me to continue to read.
